  What is ‘pharmaceutics’? The word ‘ pharmaceutics ’ is used in pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sciences to encompass a wide range of subject areas that are all associated with the steps to which a drug is subjected towards the end of its development. It encompasses the stages that follow on from the discovery or synthesis of the drug, its isolation and purification, and its testing for beneficial pharmacological effects and absence of serious toxicological problems. Put at its simplest – pharmaceutics converts a drug into a medicine.

  Reduced-Ply Belting Reduced-ply belts have carcasses of high-strength fibers, with either fewer plies or special weaves. No standards are available, but reduced-ply belting tension ratings can be made for all values of multiple-ply belting.

  Rating of Multiple-Ply Belts Multiple-ply belts are now rated on the basis of tensile strength (in pounds-per-inch-width per ply) when the splices are vulcanized. With normal mechanical-fas tener splices, the rating is reduced to approximately three-quarters of the vulcanized values. Some belt man ufacturers can get adequate fastener holding due to their weave, and no reduction in the rating is required.
